a look at our morning commute. like clockwork right on schedule. over to the bay bridge, those metering lights are switched on within the last minute or two so suddenly we are starting to see those delays filling in, in the middle fastrak lanes. now you can see it's backed up for 10 minutes already. it didn't take long and it's backed up beyond the first overcrossing just past the parking lot. here's a live look at the san mateo bridge. this looks better. everything is moving at the speed limit so far on westbound 92 leaving the east bay, leaving hayward. and just a heads up if maybe you're traveling toward the financial district in san francisco, there's an injury crash outside the kpix 5 studios at battery and broadway. various lanes blocked on battery and broadway just a heads up. it seems like you can get around it but again lanes are blocked and emergency crews were out there just a short while ago. here's a live look at the silicon valley drive westbound 237. looks great leaving milpitas. and also a quick note. we still have these bart delays about 5 to 10 minutes behind schedule all bart lines running

[ laughter ] one last day of the real heat record levels into the afternoon. the sea breeze will kick in timing the coastline forecast will be tricky, 70s there. 80s and 90s inside the bay, mid- 90s in the valleys. looking good out over the bay right now. clear skies and calm conditions. mild temperatures, 65 degrees in san francisco right now. 59 in san jose. this afternoon, up to the low 90s in san jose. about 88 in oakland. 91 in the napa valley. and about 86 degrees in san francisco. that's a look at weather. happening today a committee of nba team owners will start mapping out the plans to remove

donald sterling as the owner of the l.a. clippers. kpix 5's anne makovec joins us now in the newsroom with the latest fallout from those racist remarks made by sterling. anne. >> reporter: the 10-member committee will have a conference call today, two days after commissioner adam silver banned sterling for life from the league fining him $2.5 million. if 75% of the board later votes to terminate sterling, the commissioner will take over control of the clippers, set a price and sell the team. sports analysts say that price would be at least $700 million. we could see a situation similar to what happened when the l.a. dodgers went on the auction block and at the last minute billionaires from guggenheim snapped them up. even when things got dicey for the dodgers, most of the sponsors stuck around and we have already seen many of the clippers' sponsors drop off just this week. >> now you are in a situation where the entire franchise might spiral out of financial control. >> reporter: but some big names have expressed interest in

buying the team. oprah winfrey may partner with media mobile david geffen and larry ellison, boxing champ floyd mayweather, jr., and hip- hop entrepreneur sean p-diddy combs. now, the clippers owner told fox news last night that he has no intention of selling the team. so sterling could end up tying this all up in court. more on that coming up in the next half hour. frank? >> i think this is going to take a while. tell us, how much support does the commissioner have from the other 29 owners to force sterling to eventually sell the team. >> reporter: the commissioner says he is confident that he has the votes and that is likely the case. we have already seen several statements from teams saying they will vote to remove sterling as soon as they get the chance. >> all right. anne makovec live for us in the newsroom, anne, thanks. and, of course, oh, yeah, there is a game tonight. the warriors take on the clippers 7:30 at oracle arena. the clippers lead the series 3 games to 2. developing right now in san jose, a massive three-alarm fire has gutted a house.

kpix 5's kiet do is live at the home on foxworthy avenue and kiet, firefighters, they had a tough time getting to the home to fight the fire. >> reporter: yes. speaking of firefighters. these guys are undergoing a shift change right now. they were here on scene overnight to make sure that it did not flare up and to keep trespassers out. a lot of the vegetation out here, the tall trees, bushes, plants, the pots, there's a little bit of a wall here, all this made it very difficult for the firefighters to get to the flames to battle that fire last night at 9:30 when this happened. we have some dramatic video captured while standing right next to that building. the flames engulfed the second story of this barn style house. it quickly went to three alarms at 9:30 last night. flames went 15 feet into the air. the fire mostly burned the second story in the rear of the house. everybody got out safely. and there were no injuries. we're hearing at least two people live here at this home. arson investigators will be here on scene as daybreak

comes. this is standard procedure as they try to figure out what caused this fire in west san jose. kiet do, kpix 5. may day is an international day of worker protest. a march is under way in the mission. organizers want to bring workers together. >> this group is a great venue for people to come together and, you know, start to fight for san francisco because the san francisco we once knew is slipping away. >> protestors say the events today will be peaceful. marches and rallies are planned in san francisco, oakland, santa rosa and san jose. one of the may day marches in san jose will be to support the deported mother of a san jose state university student. a rally was held on campus tuesday calling on immigration and customs enforcement and president obama to stop antonia aguilar from getting deported. congresswoman zoe lofgren had even introduced a private bill

earlier this week but the feds sent the mother back to tijuana. investigators in the north bay are still trying to get to the bottom of a developing story this morning. a wild and reckless driver left a freeway guardrail crumpled. the question is why a woman apparently crashed into other cars on purpose. it happened along eastbound interstate 80 near the american canyon exit. the destruction ended when the driver crashed her toyota tundra truck into a walmart big rig around 7:30 last night. she was taken to the hospital in fairfield with minor injuries. there were no reports of other injuries. happening today, thanks to the drought, mandatory water rationing begins in the city of santa cruz. the new guidelines include a 249-gallon daily maximum for single-family homes at regular rates. households that use more will have to pay a higher rate for the extra water. homes with more than four people can request an additional allotment. developing news in san

bernardino county where mandatory evacuation orders are canceled for more than 1600 homes that were in danger of a wildfire. the fire began yesterday morning north of rancho cucamonga and quickly spread because of the strong santa ana winds. because of those weather conditions, firefighters have not been able to battle the flames from the air. >> as soon as the winds die down, we will bring in the firefighting aircraft. >> but the fire has burned about 1,000 acres. at this point, there's no estimate on a containment percentage and four high schools in the area will remain closed today. so far, the only structure reported burned is a fence. meanwhile, smaller fires have been burning elsewhere in southern california. kpix 5 reporter roberta gonzales is live in livermore this morning tracking the mini spring heat wave that we are having right now in the bay area. and roberta, you dreamed about ice cream last night. >> reporter: isn't that crazy? isn't that bizarre? i didn't even remember it until the great karnow mentioned ice

cream a little earlier today. but that's because i had a very restless night like many people. i'm not hearing a lot of complaints about the heat as i am about the overnight minimum that's taking a while to cool down so therefore a lot of us very restless. one more night of that, the cooling begins this afternoon along the coast. now, i am in downtown livermore. isn't it gorgeous this morning? yesterday it was 92. let's set the stage for you. walnut creek in the east bay was 88 degrees. along the coast, though, we saw high temperatures in the 80s and even 90s, as well. so it was universally hot across the bay area. with that in mind, we have to keep this in mind, we have some helpful tips for you so you can beat the heat today. now, again, i know you've heard this before. but we cannot jump up and down enough to tell you -- remind you to hydrate. hydrate, hydrate! try to stay away from caffeine today because it leads to dehydration. secondly, let's be very mindful of our elderly, children and

let's not forget the pets, equally as hot. and meanwhile if you do want to go out and exercise today, air quality is decent but meanwhile, try to limit that activity to the early-morning hours or the early-evening hours to avoid heat stroke or cramps. now, record highs across the bay area today, we are going to make a run for it but they are pretty far off. we're talking about first off records, livermore 96, san jose 96, gilroy 99, but boy, today, we'll see near record heat across the bay area here in the livermore area, the great karnow and myself are forecasting a high temperature of 93 degrees. so stay cool, everybody! you don't want to cook tonight because you don't want to heat up the house, come to south livermore avenue and first street, lots of great outdoor dining in this beautiful city in the east bay. reporting for mobile weather, roberta gonzales, kpix 5. thank you. time now 6:10. from killer tornadoes in the south to flooding on the east

causing a street to collapse record rainfall has flooded streets in newark, new jersey to baltimore, maryland even causing a street to collapse. there were cars, check them out, at the bottom of that massive hole there. water levels rose so fast in some places, people found themselves trapped and had to be rescued. this is the same storm system that dumped five inches of rain in florida in just 45 minutes yesterday. well, east coast weather is trending right now. also trending, kurt cobain. seattle police just released a note from the late singer's wallet scorning courtney love. >> judge judy is trending. the tv judge is going prime time in a one hour special on cbs this month. >> wow. >> and yale? >> the university is the pick for a new york student who made national headlines after being accepted to all 8 ivy league schools. so he is going to yale. that vacation spot, people are taking to twitter to share where they would not want to travel just because. you can follow us on twitter at #cbssf. one of those bad vacation spots they named, sacramento.

>> what's up with that? >> lovely place. old town? come on. >> old sacramento is really fun. been up there for a little mini weekend getaway not too long ago. gets a bad rap. if you are in san francisco, we all love heading into san francisco a top vacation spot and this is what you have to wait in to get to it. looks like it's backed up to the madoff already this morning. the approaches look okay. trying to get into san francisco is going to be a bear right now and you're backed up for at least 20 minutes or so just to get you on to the bay bridge. the incline to yerba buena island is slow. we also have an accident we have been watching right outside our kpix 5 studios. battery street and broadway, it looks like it's a minor injury crash but some lanes are blocked around that intersection, some muni buses have been detoured. they are detouring cars off at front street. southbound 880 at tennyson this accident is right there and it is still off to the right-hand shoulder. we are seeing a few slowdowns

on those southbound lanes from 238. once you get past tennyson things get better. here's a live look at the silicon valley ride, westbound 237 looking great so far leaving milpitas heading to sunnyvale. there was a problem i guess approaching great america parkway on westbound 237. an object on the road doesn't appear to be causing a delay. you can see that drive time still about 7 minutes between milpitas and sunnyvale. there were some delays out of san leandro an earlier switching issue but right now everything is back on track. golden gate ferries, caltrain and ace also. we are seeing slowdowns northbound 101 between 280 and just past mckee. it's not enough to impact the drive time, though. that's still looking great only about 12 minutes between 280 and 237 and if you are traveling 280 through downtown, that gets two thumbs up as well

as the guadalupe parkway. so of course, in traffic things can change at any moment so if you have any questions about your morning drive, remember kcbs when you hit the roads at 106.9 fm or 740-am. that's your latest "kcbs traffic." with the forecast, here's lawrence. lawrence is sizzling, as well as the forecast. >> thank you so much! that means a lot. >> around the bay area it's going to be hot again near record levels again by the afternoon. and then we'll notice some big time changes the next couple of days. the last day of the heat wave temperatures well above average more than 20 degrees above average into san francisco expecting a high there of about 86. 86 also into oakland. about 92 in san jose. 91 degrees in santa rosa. so we're working on another hot day outside. we'll notice the sea breeze kicking in along the coastline. a little cooler there in the afternoon. then some much cooler weather is on the way as we head into tomorrow and the weekend. high pressure starting to slide further to the east but not before leaving us one more hot

day and then it looks like that sea breeze will start to kick in and that will carry with it something we haven't seen for a while some low clouds and fog. computer models picking up on that. maybe a couple of patches tomorrow morning and then more so for the weekend. gray along the coastline with highs in the 50s on saturday and sunday. temperatures for today though out toward the beaches up into the 70s. 90s in the south bay. 80s into hayward. lots of ninths into the east bay again as high as 94 in brentwood and antioch, a lot of 80s inside the bay. sunrise 6:14. sunset 8:00 even. next couple of days, we are going to watch those temperatures dropping off. big-time changes, 20 to 25 degrees cooler over the weekend. even a slight chance of showers, guys, north of the golden gate bridge on monday. >> we'll be ready for that. >> of a few days of hot weather, it's nice to get cooler weather. >> thank you. well, books of course a part of everyday life for a student but a charter school in vallejo, well, they didn't have a library. >> until a group of students worked together to start one. that makes mare island technology academy this week's "cool school."

>> reporter: mare island technology academy has its share of triumphs and its share of challenges. >> we don't have a gym. we don't have a library. we don't have athletic fields. so we have to be very creative and make do with what we have. >> when you don't have a library at your school, it kind of --you don't feel like you should read. but you know, you still have to. >> reporter: so this group of three freshmen in a leadership class came up with a plan to start a library. through facebook and book drives, they urged students, parents and the community to donate. >> books. >> all right. >> reporter: they have already checked about 50 books and hope to triple that amount in a month. >> it's really nice because everyone's coming together. >> reporter: with 800 middle and high school students spread out in different buildings on campus, the challenge was to

find the perfect place for a library. so the plan? build bird boxes, fill them up with books from every genre and place them in certain classrooms. it's run on the honor system. students can take what them read it and then return it. >> it shows that we have a community here at m.i.t. and it shows that we all work together to get stuff done. >> it really is a good school and these kids are great. in a leadership class, so they just came up with this library idea. >> they are getting supplies donated to put up the bird boxes. the community and parents, the kids, they are all bringing in books. it's a big community effort. >> what's cool about your school? you can email your nomination to us at coolschools@kpix.com and we may come and feature your school on the show. coming up, toronto mayor rob ford taking a break from his re-election campaign, why ford will be spending some time out of the limelight coming up. the giants nearly go the distance against the padres. the sharks season ends. the kings complete the improbable comeback coming up in sports.

the floodgates opened for the a's in texas. they scored 12 runs and the rangers committed four errors. 9-0 a's after the beltre error. jesse chavez pitches 7 scoreless innings as the a's sweep the rangers in arlington. giants and padres seconds inning justin hicks over the brick wall for the fifth home run of the season. 2-0 san francisco. tim hudson was locked in again. he struck out 6 and was an out away from pitching a complete game. giants beat san diego 3-2. and the warriors will play the clippers in game 6 tonight. i'm andrea nakano. that's your morning sports. play of the day now, we have a grounder that's going to take a bad hop by the minnesota twins first baseman. that's brian dozier behind him he swoops in from second base. he gets it and from the glove hand, swoops it over to the pitcher to kyle gibson. got him.

home in west san jose. we have the dramatic video coming up in a live report. >> a bay area family opens their front door to a horrific scene. how two burn victims escaped an explosion and wound up at a house nearby. >> and an earlier accident is jamming up the works now in southbound 880. it's in hayward. we'll help you get to work on time. it's all coming up. >> thank you, liz. good morning, everyone. it's thursday, it's the first day of may. it's may day. i'm frank mallicoat. >> i'm michelle griego. time now 6:31. let's check in with lawrence for the hot forecast. >> yeah. guys, if you like the heat, you're going to love today. another hot one coming with some of these numbers near record levels by the afternoon but this will be it. after this we have some big- time changes the next couple of days. but that ridge in place now will crank up these temperatures. the tricky forecast today will be along the coastline. i expect the sea breeze to kick in depending when that kicks in today it will determine the temperatures. right now 70s there. 80s and 90s inside the bay and still mid-90s a possibility in the valleys. it is a gorgeous start to the

morning. the temperatures fairly mild outside. we have seen numbers into the 60s even mid-60s in san francisco right now almost 60 in san jose and 59 degrees in oakland. this afternoon, back into the 90s in the valleys. you will see about 88 in oakland. about 86 degrees in san francisco. let's check the roads with elizabeth. people cranking up their air-conditioners today. you're going to be waiting for a while heading to the bay bridge toll plaza. the metering lights have been on now for a half hour so it's already stacked up fully into the macarthur maze. some of the approaches are beginning to slow as well westbound 580 backed up to 24. and hitting city streets in san francisco, we still have this minor injury crash still blocking some lanes and streets around broadway and battery. right outside our kpix 5 studios. just a heads up, you may find delays trying to get to the financial district. one of our coworkers just tweeted out this picture just taken within the hour right there at battery and broadway at that intersection where you can see emergency crews are still on scene. all right. southbound 880 at tennyson,

this is that accident in hayward i mentioned. no lanes are blocked but it is very slow still from 238. that's your latest "kcbs traffic." frank, michelle, back to you guys. today a committee of nba team owners is expected to take the first step towards removing this man, donald sterling, as other than of the l.a. clippers. a 75% vote of all the team owners is needed to actually force sterling to eventually sell the team. it's all connected to his racist comments that he made public over the weekend on those voice recordings. may 1 is the day of international protest. it's may day. a number of them are planned here in the bay area today. one protest already under way in san francisco. and kpix 5's cate caugiran is there. cate. >> reporter: the group that we are following now has moved to haight and octavia! they are protesting for construction worker rights at this site. you see the signs are up, they are chanting and they will move to several other locations to the city from here. we were there when they started the march from 16th and mission

walking along major streets blocking traffic. that's something morning commuters should be aware of. this particular group is part of the united rank-and-file one of the many groups in the bay area that will take part in may day or international workers day. expect to see thousands more protesting antilabor laws and advocating for better worker rights and living wages, issues these san francisco workers say is detrimental to living in the city. >> right now as it is, we can't afford to live here. and when you have these contractors that are not paying bay area standard wages it disenfranchises another section of the workforce. >> reporter: in the past protests have gotten out of here. last year was peaceful and energetic something organizers say we can expect to see today. back out live, this group that will be marching and picketing

will be one of means. be there will be other organized rallies in san francisco, oakland, santa rosa and santa clara. so again keep an eye out for these people as you drive especially here in san francisco like we mentioned earlier, then blocking a few roads as they have been marching to their different locations. reporting live in san francisco, cate caugiran, kpix 5. >> two years ago protests got violent. a small group trashed several businesses in the mission the night before. developing news in san jose. a house was destroyed by a massive fire displacing two people. kpix 5's kiet do is live at the home on foxworthy avenue. and kiet, firefighters had a hard time getting to the house. >> reporter: yeah. now that the sun is up we are getting a much better look at this house. foxworthy avenue here on the 2200 block just near south bascomb kind of a busy street so you can understand why this homeowner kept a lot of this vegetation out here to keep the traffic kind of away, the noise away. but that is what kept all these firefighters from fighting these flames and getting to them quickly. all these trees, branches, bushes, things like that,

really slow the firefighting effort down. these guys just got here but they kept their presence here overnight just to be sure it didn't flare up and keep any kind of trespassers out. the dramatic video last nightcaptured while standing right next to the building, flames engulfed the second story of this barn style house. the call came in just before 9:30 last night. quickly went to three alarms and you can see the flames shooting into the air 10 to 15 feet. the fire mostly burned the second story in the rear of the house. everybody got out safely. we are hearing that two people lived here. arson investigators are going to be here sometime in the 8:00 hour to try to figure out what caused this fire. kiet do, kpix 5. >> new this morning, police hope surveillance video will help find the thieves who have been stealing atms in sacramento. in recent weeks, atms have been stolen from a convenience store, a restaurant, and a gas station. investigators believe the same three men were involved in all thefts. it is 6:36 now. the man suspected of shooting at a doctor in daly city last

week is expected back in court this afternoon. 85-year-old raymond iwase from daly city is scheduled to enter pleas to charges that include attempted murder. iwase was arrested at his home a few hours after the shooting at a daly city medical center. he is accused of shooting at a doctor over treatment that he had received some two years ago. the doctor was unhurt. northern california district attorney has stepped up security after someone firebombed his office. it happened up in redding yesterday. someone tossed a molotov cocktail through the window there. the building's automatic sprinkler system kicked in and put out the fire quickly but you can see, it's drenched leaving a whole lot of water damage. >> this i guarantee you will not stop them from doing their juror. so if that's what the person was thinking, they made a big mistake. >> nobody was inside the building at the time. the assistant d.a. says he is not aware of any recent threats. an east bay family heard a frantic banging at their front door and opened it. they told our joe vazquez about

the horrifying sight. >> very scary. >> crazy. >> reporter: cynthia silva and her daughter brittany didn't even hear the explosion. >> i go to the door and this lady walks in and she has all this skin hanging off her and she is screaming like help me and jumps into my bathtub and turns on the water and i'm just like, what are you doing! >> reporter: when the two burn victims arrived at their apartment, they were shocked. >> she was help me, that's all she was screaming, help me, help me. she said something exploded, help me, help the me, i need cold water, something exploded. >> she was like screaming, it hurts, it hurts so bad! >> reporter: sheriff's deputies say the couple was trying to make hash oil inside their tent at a nearby homeless encampment when a butane tank blew up. dave marcelino lives at the encampment and rushed to pour water on the fire. >> they were screaming, you know, pain, because every time it flashed, different pockets of gas were going off, it burned them more. >> reporter: another resident named frank saw that the couple was trapped inside pulled out his knife and cut the canvas rescuing them. dave walked the couple a quarter of a mile up to the

reports from washington tod. as it tries to build on yesterday's record for the . here now is kcbs radio's financial report the market is checking on reports from washington today as it tries to build on yesterday's record for the dow. here is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >> reporter: good morning, michelle. good morning, frank. always a challenge to top a record but that's what we saw yesterday. but the dow jones a mix of economic news out for investors regard, the job market, the labor department reporting that first time weekly unemployment claims rose by 14,000 to 344,000. that's the highest level in a couple of months. that also comes before labor releases the monthly report on friday. and economists are generally

looking for a gain of around 215 to 220,000 jobs in april with the unemployment rate falling from 6.7 to 6.6%. >> looks like consumers were spending a bit more in march. even though the economy in the 1st quarter was really sluggish, the commerce department says that personal spending was up .9%, fastest gape in five years and thank slightly bigger paychecks for that income up from .4 to .5% on a gain from february into march, the fastest gain in five years. the online reviewer yelp topped expectations its revenue of 65% up a year earlier to more than $76 million and it's shares are up 8% and that's giving a nice shot in the arm for a lot of other social media companies. facebook, twitter up 2%. let's look at the numbers. so far the dow is positive up by 20 points. nasdaq up 6. s&p up by 1. michelle and frank, back to you. >> i knew it would turn the

hill has been having renovations and there was a delay from opening last month. it will open in two weeks on the 14th of may. the $1.7 million restoration project started in october. some record-breaking rain continues to pound the east coast and as marlie hall shows us, all that water is causing some major damage. >> reporter: people tried to drive through flooded streets in newark, new jersey after hours of rain from a storm that is dumping record amounts of rain up the east coast. this woman abandoned her car and walked through water up to her knees. other drivers turned back before it was too late. >> i just had to back out there was before i got stuck. >> reporter: parts of this street in baltimore collapsed wednesday, swallowing several cars. >> the wall, the lights, the cars, everything parked on that side of the streets, gone. >> reporter: the water in parts of maryland rose so fast, people got trapped. and emergency responders had to use boats to rescue them. hours before, the storm left its mark further south. parts of alabama were also hit with torrential rains. >> it ain't never been this bad.

new this morning, two inmates are dead and 150 other people are injured after a late- night explosion at a florida jail. it happened at the escambia county jail's booking facility. part of the building collapsed. no word on what caused the explosion. but investigators say it might be connected to flooding caused by heavy rain earlier this week. 6:49. a check of traffic now with liz. what's going on? >> what's going on. well, for the second straight day we are trying to remember was it yesterday that we saw those big delays from san leandro into hayward? it was because of an accident on southbound 880. kind of seeing a repeat today. so this morning's accident was approaching tennyson. never really blocked lanes for very long. quickly cleared to the right- hand shoulder. unfortunately, we are still seeing big delays. there may be some activity from chp off to the shoulder. so the slowdowns begin around that 238 interchange. looks like maybe it's backed up to washington. anyway, it's jammed up through san leandro into the hayward area. if you are traveling northbound, i was going to say that everything looks great so that there's no delay in the

northbound direction. but -- just coming in on our chp reports, a new accident record northbound 880 by the 23rd accident reported northbound 880. it's blocking on lane. traffic may be tied up heading into downtown oakland. that was a live look near the coliseum. also in walnut creek another accident reported southbound 680 by treat. this one involving a jeep and another car. and you can see the bulk of the slowdowns are actually on 242 southbound past concord avenue and down southbound 680 into walnut creek. we see those delays. so once you got past the 24 interchange, then everything looks good pretty quiet now through lafayette. here's a quick live look at westbound 237 through milpitas where you can see just beginning to jam up the works right there near the 880/237 interchange to zanker road and there is that spider that lawrence was talking about earlier. it seems to be creepy crawl eve. >> i know. >> all right. that's a check of traffic. with the forecast, here's lawrence. that was cool. he is busy!

>> he has been there for a couple of days hanging out. >> must be the good shot of warm weather. temperatures near record levels again by the afternoon in fact well above the average but this will be the last day of the real heat wave as we are going to see some much cooler weather on the way. 60s and 70s, usually the average way above that. 90s in san jose and santa rosa again. so today, we are starting out with some mild temperatures early on. some of the numbers already in the 60s. plenty of sunshine and hot temperatures again. but we'll notice that sea breeze kicking in along the coastline later on today. and some much cooler weather on the way for tomorrow. but one last day of near record- breaking temperatures. that ridge going to start to slide eastward. as it does, we are going to see something we haven't seen for a few days some low clouds and fog going to start to move in along the coastline for tomorrow. it looks like more of that into the weekend. in fact, probably pretty gray over the weekend maybe some drizzle along the coastline. temperatures for today, don't have to worry about the fog at all not much in the way of cloud cover. 90s in the south bay mid-90s

5-1. a committee of nba team owners will start mapping out their plan to remove donald sterling as the owner of the l.a. clippers. anne makovec has the latest with the fallout from the racist comments made by sterling. >> reporter: that 10-member committee will hold a conference call about it today. the league is already banned him for life. it may not be so easy to force him to sell his team a process that began on tuesday. the league's constitution says the commissioner has three days to provide sterling with a written copy of accusations against him. sterling will have five days to respond. a special meeting of the board of governors will be held within 10 days of sterling's reply. if 75% of the board later votes to terminate sterling, the commissioner will take over control of the clippers, set a price and sell the team. but sterling could tie everything up in court. >> he can litigate and slow it down as long as -- as much as his resources and the legal process will allow. or he could potentially dictate
